Twitter Tasting - Okell's Brewery  - 6th Aug

alt

Following on from the great success of our last Twitter tasting, which is mostly down to you, we have decided to hold another one on the 6th of Aug from 8pm.

Introducing our Co Host for the Evening

We have lined up Andy Beacock  from The Ormskirk Baron who has reviewed over 1100+ Ales and doesn't plan on stopping anytime soon, to Co-host.  He knows Dr. Mike Cowbourne the Head Brewer and the Okell beers well.  He has chosen Aile and 1907.

A Bit About the Brewery

The Okell has been the main Brewery on the Isle of Man for over 150 years and are defined by their unique Brewing Purity Law (1874):

No brewer shall use in the brewing, making, mixing with, recovering or colouring, any beer or any liquid made to resemble beer, or have in his possession any copperas, coculus indicus, nux vomica, grains of paradise, guinea pepper, or opium or any article, ingredient, or preparation whatever for, or as a substitute for malt, sugar or hops.’

How do I get the beer?

To join in, simply add One Bottle Each of the Aile  and 1907 to your basket (containing whatever else you want too!), then enter the Promo-Code "okells" when you checkout. The code will give you a 100% discount on the cost of one Aile and one 1907.  But please show some restraint and keep it till the 6th of Aug.   The code can only be used once per customer.

The code is being limited to those quick off the mark but don't worry if you're too late you can still join the fun. Just buy the beer and have it available on the evening.

The Twitter Bit

On the night of 6th Aug at 8pm you will just need to tweet using the hashtag #beerybits. Do note that if you have a protected account we will not see your tweets, so please unprotect your account. You can always protect it again afterwards.
We will also be giving out a spot prizes on the evening.

We look forward to meeting you on the night.

About Bishop Nick

Almost 300 years later in 1842 Thomas Dixon Ridley built his brewery on the banks of the River Chelmer. It was here that the Ridleys’ great tradition of brewing was born. The brewery thrived and Ridley’s beer was enjoyed at inns from Southend to Saffron Walden.

Over the next 163 years six generations of Ridleys honed their skills and perfected their palettes to bring the people of Essex the best local brews, until the brewery was sold in 2005.

Today, Nelion Ridley takes up the mantle once more, and with his craft brewery ‘Bishop Nick’, is devoted to keeping Essex ales sacred. You can find out more about them here.

To enter simply use the Rafflecopter form below. If you can't see the form, click here to enter. Full Terms and Conditions can be found at the bottom of the form but in short it’s open to UK residents aged 18+ and closes on Monday 21st July.
